A Dangerous Passion (working title) is the sequel to The Laird’s Captive Wife.  I’ve had this story in mind for some time but other projects intervened and it’s only in recent weeks that I’ve been able to get down to work on it.  The story takes place five years after the events related in the first book.

Isobel Graham has never been in greater danger.  Her father is dying and when he is gone the Castelmara estate will, nominally, pass to her amiable but ineffectual brother, Hugo. In reality Castelmara is already under the control of Donnchadh and his band of mercenaries.  Originally recruited to make it strong and feared, they have succeeded very well. Now they have become a law unto themselves. Donnchadh exerts a strong influence over Hugo and also has designs on Isobel who fears him and dreads his presence.  She knows that when her father dies Donnchadh will control Castelmara and marry her by force.  To prevent that she must be safely wed and away from there.  She would gladly do so but, unfortunately, her former betrothed died in a hunting accident.  Now her father seeks a new bridegroom for her at Glengarron.  As Black Iain’s brother-in-law, Lord Ban seems to fulfil all the requirements.  He’s a respected warrior and he’s wealthy. However, after a disastrous first meeting, he is also, in Isobel’s eyes, overbearing and arrogantly certain of making her his wife.  In spite of her situation it sits ill with her to be taken for granted. Her decision to teach him a lesson has consequences that she will bitterly regret.  Nor will Donnchadh quietly relinquish the prize he covets.
